Castleford Tigers stadium forces pre-season change

For a long time Castleford Tigers have been chasing stadium redevelopment and there are edging closer and closer to that redevelopment.

This is because British Highways have withdrawn their opposition against the plans Castleford submitted a year ago. One thing still standing in their way is the environmental agency. They have opposed the plans due to a flooding concern.

But if anything recent floods on the pitch have shown that the club need this redevelopment more than ever. The heavy rain fall in October saw the pitch covered in water demonstrating the need for the redevelopment.

Making matters worse for Wakefield, they have been forced to stand and watch as rivals Wakefield Trinity redevelop their ground to great effect. It is now time for the Tigers and they have begun some minor work which has actually impacted their pre-season plans.

The Tigers were supposed to train at the Jungle in Week One of pre-season but have been pictured training elsewhere confusing some fans.

But this is perhaps a positive given that the decision has been made because of these refurbishments at the Jungle which can only be a good thing.

The Tigers confirmed that some fans may have to be moved during the season due to this work which may need fans who have specific seats to move throughout the season.

Naturally, this isn’t ideal for the fans in question nor the club’s now changed pre-season plans but it is a good thing for the club moving forward.

Much has been made about the Tigers and missing out on the top 12 in the IMG rankings as well the error that resulted in this positioning with the appeal yet to be heard.

However, it seems the club has a much brighter future due to the strides taken forward with regards to stadium redevelopment.
