Castleford Tigers launch new away shirt in radical new colour scheme

Castleford Tigers are set for a new era with Craig Lingard at the helm and Danny McGuire set to serve as assistant head coach, and now the club have launched the stylish new away shirt that they’ll be wearing as they welcome in the new era during the 2024 season.

The Tigers fot sucked into a relegation battle with West Yorkshire rivals Wakefield Trinity last season, utlimately the Tigers two head to head wins over Trin being the difference between their Super Legaue status or playing in the Championship this year.

They had to bring in former London Broncos head coach Danny Ward on a short term basis to try and avoid the drop, with the ex-London man winning two of the final six games of the season including the all-important win over Wakefield.

That was enough for the Tigers though as they escaped relegation and now they head into 2024 with former Batley Bulldogs head coach Craig Lingard in charge, Lingard having been appointed as Andy Last’s assistant midway through the season whilst Last remained in charge at the Jungle.

To mark the final key change it sees ex-Leeds Rhinos star and former Hull KR assistant Danny McGuire take on the assistant role at Wheldon Road, as the Tigers look to transform their fortunes for the 2024 campaign.

One major change for when they’re playing on the road though is their away shirt which has seen a completely new colour scheme assigned to it, making it one of Super League’s stand-out shirts.

The Tigers have opted for a green and blue shirt with green shorts, the strip made by producer Oxen and looking very different to last season’s black and yellow shirt.

It’s certainly a change from tradition but it could well prove to be a fan hit, especially if the club can bring some form on the pitch and provide the fans with a historic season.

New faces that will be wearing the shirt include Hull KR’s Sam Wood, Innes Senior, Josh Simm and Luke Hooley.

In total there will be ten new signings for the Tigers heading into the 2024 campaign with the squad having had a clear focus on becoming younger.

That’s seen players such as Gareth Widdop depart whilst youth products such as Fletcher Rooney have been promoted to the first team squad instead.
