“Absolute joke” – Hull FC fans unhappy after Catalans Dragons defeat

Hull FC showed their fans a lot of reasons to be more optimistic moving forward after a terrific display against Catalans Dragons away from home.

The Black and Whites fans were really encouraged as seen by the comments on X.

One fan said: “Thats all we ask for is fight, much better and something evidently to get behind when it clicks and players come back, Esse’Esse and Darnell quality, Personally thought Okunbor was solid too.”

However, one fan was not that impressed: “We are our own worst enemy, was a great effort but awful mistakes and discipline. Not to mention Sao trying to offload on every carry in our own half.. Hopefully we can take momentum to next week.”

Meanwhile, many fans were really impressed by the commitment: “Discipline doesn’t improve and still playing dump rugby. Cannot fault commitment.”

However, their fans were very much disappointed by the yellow card shown to Jack Ashworth.

One fan said: “Ridiculous decision.” Another noted that is was: “Completely accidental.” Meanwhile, one supporter simply said: “Never a sin bin.” Whilst another fan added: “Absolute joke.”

Hull FC Head Coach speaks on Catalans

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Hull FC Head Coach Tony Smith had his say on the Catalans Dragons on the club’s official website: “They’re a good team, and you’ve got to be really on your game if you’re going to go there and get through that fixture.

“They’re big and they’re strong, and they strangle you out of games. They’re good at it, and they play to their pace very well.

“It was interesting last week to see Leeds take a little bit of risk in terms of how they threw the ball around. I’m not saying we’ll throw the ball around quite as much as Leeds, but it did challenge the Catalans team a bit.

He added: “When they can, they get their noses in front, and then they drown you for the rest of the game. That’s the way they go. If you’re going to come on the right side of the scoreboard, you know you’ve got to defend well, and that’s something that we’ve also got to take into account.”
