Surprise decision on Oliver Gildart

The reports are that Oliver Gildart’s future is all but certain.

The centre started his career at Wigan Warriors. He made his break out year in 2015 which concluded in a first Grand Final appearance.

Since then the centre has played in three more claiming two wins over Warrington Wolves in 2016 and 2018.

He has also played at Wembley in 2017 in the Challenge Cup Final.

At the end of 2021, the centre, who has starred for England in the past scoring a sensational try against New Zealand in 2018, left for the NRL but it didn’t quite work out at Wests Tigers.

There was then interest from Leeds Rhinos to bring him in until the end of 2022 but he ended up on a similar deal at Sydney Roosters.

Then going into 2023 his future was unclear but he went on to sign for the new boys in the NRL The Dolphins but hasn’t played for them once in 2023 and according to reports the centre is headed to Hull KR next year in another major signing for the Robins.

Surprisingly, this weekend Gildart has been included in the Dolphins’ squad for the first time in 2023 though this is likely because it’s Origin Week.

It will do little to convince him to stay as he is still number 22 in the squad and unlikely to play come the weekend.
