Leigh Leopards star reveals big personal aim as he reveals disappointment with final form at Warrington Wolves

Only three players have scored over 200 tries.

For a long time, Keith Senior of Sheffield Eagles and Leeds Rhinos was the leading scorer as the only man to play in every Super League season from 1996-2011 with 199 tries before injury ended his career.

A year after that his former teammate Danny McGuire reached the 200 marker against Wakefield Trinity in the play-offs and went on to score 247 tries prior to retirement in 2019 with Hull KR.

Another former teammate of McGuire’s and Senior’s former wing partner Ryan Hall followed suit in 2021 scoring his 200th try and in 2022 Josh Charnley joined the 200 club an impressive feat for the former Wigan Warriors winger who spent some time in rugby union.

He also spent the majority of last year in the Championship with Leigh Leopards so now in Super League he is keen to catch up on McGuire and Hall as he revealed when talking to the Super League website as he also admitted his time at Warrington Wolves didn’t end the way he wanted.

“I’m very excited [to return to Super League]”, Charnley explained.

“I didn’t have a good run last year at Warrington – I only managed to play a few games so I’m glad to be back in Super League and chasing my try scoring charts.”
