NRL star set to reject massive $4 million deal

Some of the recent transfer stories in the NRL have shone a light on the disparity between the money down under and that presently available in the Betfred Super League.

North Queensland Cowboys youngster Jeremiah Nanai has been flooded with offers recently after entering the last 12 months of his current contract.

This included a huge $4.2 million deal at a Sydney based club.

Though the Australian international who made his debut for his country at Leeds Rhinos’ Headingley Stadium prior to a Man of the Match display at St Helens’ Totally Wicked Stadium, is set to decline this offer according to reports today to stay with the Cowboys.

Another Queensland based player is reportedly set to do the same.

The Courier Mail reported Manly have tabled a $4 million offer for Thomas Flegler of the Brisbane Broncos, but the one-game Maroons prop wants to stay loyal to the Broncos.

This comes after interest from the New Zealand Warriors and Gold Coast Titans as well.

“I have been at the Broncos since I was a kid and I don‘t plan on leaving,” Flegler told The Courier Mail.

“For myself, I need to play good footy, more importantly for the team rather than myself.

“You would be lying if you said you didn’t think about it, but I have been at the Broncos since I was 15 and this is home for me.”
