He’s now at the Warrington Wolves, but Greg Inglis was once an NRL superstar.
Of course, the incredible athlete began his career at Melbourne Storm before making the move to the South Sydney Rabbitohs ahead of the 2011 season. From fullback to centre, Inglis lit up the NRL for 15 seasons as well as the international stage, registering 39 appearances in the green-and-gold of Australia.
A Queensland Origin veteran of 32 appearances, there’s perhaps only one word to describe Inglis’ career: wow. Coming out of retirement to ply his trade in Super League, the three-quarter will certainly put bums on seats.
Of course, being the ripe-old age of 34 may mean that Inglis has lost an inch off his pace, and, the fact that he retired two years ago after succumbing to injury could work against him.
Yet, the Aussie is a born winner and would not have returned to the sport that he loved so dearly if he wasn’t confident of making it comfortably back in the big time.
In 2014, Inglis was at his mercurial best and, in this clip below, demonstrated just how much of a superb one-in-a-million player he was when at his pomp – swatting off rivals for fun as he picked up a kick at fullback.
