Willie Peters provides latest update on James Batchelor after worrying injury

The Magic Weekend is a joyous occasion but sadly we all saw some worrying scenes at St James Park.

Hull KR star James Batchelor didn’t moved after a tackle inside the Hull KR half.

Credit has to go to Chris Atkin for calling for support immediately.

Batchelor sadly ended up in an awkward position and didn’t move for some time with Willie Peters later revealing he had lost feeling in his body for a brief period.

Ambulance staff also came onto the field to help as they prepared to get him ready for the stretcher.

He was eventually stretchered off the field to a round of applause.

Fortunately, Batchelor was soon conscious but things aren’t great.

Hull KR coach Willie Peters gave an update on the back rower revealing he will be in a neck brace for eight weeks after feeling tingles in his neck.

“So obviously he got released from hospital up in Newcastle and then he started, he still felt some tingles down his neck,” he said.

“Gemma, who’s our team doctor, has done an outstanding job with him, sent him to Hull Hospital here, who have been marvellous.

“So he was in there for a few days and then just released him. He was actually in training. He came training today to say good day to the guys, say hi to the fellas.

“But he’s going to be in a neck brace now for possibly the next sort of eight weeks and then they’ll look to see after that when he’s returned to plays.

“But the most important thing for Batch now is just to get that neck sorted in terms of important thing for Batch now is just to get that neck sorted in terms of he’s got a little bit of pins and needles in his arm, but that’s going, which is the main thing.”
