Three Super League clubs who could sign Huddersfield Giants star

Huddersfield Giants Head Coach Ian Watson has addressed the immediate future of former Wigan Warriors and Salford Red Devils outside back Jake Bibby as the new Super League season unfolds.

Bibby has recently been linked with a move to Hull FC, though Watson made it clear that this was something that had not been discussed.

Huddersfield Giants boss Watson explained the situation hinting at a loan move for Bibby: “Not had anything from that mate, I don’t know about that one, nobody’s asked about Jake or no-one’s come to me and asked me about Jake anyway.

“Jake’s been head down trying to work hard, he’s focused, he’s trying to play for Huddersfield. He signed a contract for Huddersfield Giants and he’s more than happy with it, but obviously like most players they want to play at some point and they want to get game time.

“He’ll play this weekend for our reserves to get a little bit of a game but sometimes you’ve got to look at the quality and the level of player that you’re dealing with and Super League is the level that Jake deserves to be playing at.

“In order to get him right and get him up to speed for when he does come in and play for us we’re going to probably have to look at something like that in probably not the too distant future to be fair.”

But which clubs could be interested in bringing Bibby in?

Hull FC

Even though there hasn’t been any concrete interest in Bibby from Hull FC according to Watson, that doesn’t mean the move won’t happen.

By all accounts Leeds Rhinos weren’t interested in signing Lachie Miller until it had been reported that the club were interested so these kind of things can happen in rugby league.

Hull FC have struggled with loads of injuries including at centre so this could be a savvy move.

Leigh Leopards

Leigh Leopards have also done it tough on the injury front as well at the start of the Super League season.

They have lost John Asiata and Tom Briscoe to torn calves after their defeat to St Helens. This has left strain on their outside backs so signing someone like Bibby on a short term loan like they did with Brad Dwyer to cover the injured Edwin Ipape would make a lot of sense.

They did something similar at centre last year with Oliver Gildart.

London Broncos

It is perhaps the London Broncos, the Super League club who have had to do it the most difficult with injuries this year, could be in the market as well for Bibby.

They have lost so many key players to injury at the start of 2024 and could therefore be interested in Bibby to add some strike and some experience to their side at the start of the season.
