Super League Disciplinary: Hull KR appeal decision reached

Hull KR player Jesse Sue, who faces Super League disciplinary action.

At the Operational Rules Tribunal, the decision on Hull KR’s appeal of Jesse Sue’s ban has been reached, in more Super League disciplinary drama.

The forward was given a Grade B Dangerous Contact charge following the Robins’ 26-14 defeat of Leigh Leopards in the Challenge Cup quarter-finals.

This was due to a late hit on Leigh’s Tom Amone with the tackle being penalised at the time by referee Chris Kendall. It’s a tackle that can be seen by fans with the game still available to watch on BBC iPlayer, the incident happening midway through the second half at 1 hr 41 minutes and 15 seconds into the footage.

The one-match Penalty Notice came due to being at the higher end of the grade and Hull KR announced their decision to appeal the charge on Monday night, meaning their case joined two others at the tribunal.

Catalans’ Bayley Sironen was given a Grade E Head Contact charge, which can be punished with a three-to-five game ban.

Meanwhile, Sylvester Namo of Castleford Tigers was given a Grade F Dangerous Contact charge, and faced six or more games out.

Both Grade E and F charges are automatically referred to a tribunal.

The decision on Hull KR’s appeal has now been made.

The Robins have now reported that they were unsuccessful in their appeal with the club taking to social media to reveal the results of the tribunal.

They posted: “Hull KR can confirm Sauaso Sue’ one-match penalty notice for ‘Dangerous Contract’ has been upheld by an independent Operational Rules Tribunal.”

Sue will therefore not be available for Hull KR’s visit to Perpignan this weekend, where they will face Catalans Dragons, who were dumped out of the Challenge Cup by Huddersfield Giants.
