Rohan Smith provides update on Leeds star out “indefinitely” with “health concern”

Leeds Rhinos have suffered a number of huge injury blows recently.

They have lost Aidan Sezer for six weeks due to a hamstring injury, Morgan Gannon to a 10 week ankle injury which requires surgery and Harry Newman to a 10-12 hamstring injury.

Sadly, Leeds fans won’t see Zane Tetevano for some time either.

The forward has had a health concern after a red card but it is a private matter.

Last week, Rohan Smith gave the following update:

“Zane had a health concern a week or two ago, so we’re awaiting the results from a specialist and some further advice there. It’s one of those private matter type situations that one and he’ll be out indefinitely until we provide an update there.

“Yeah, he’s in good spirits and in good general health. His professional sporting training and gameplay is obviously the part that he can’t do at the moment but his general health is positive.”

Today, Smith gave a further update on the forward:

“To my knowledge, that’s an indefinite process, but again, his health is fine. He’s in and around training and he’s got a smile on his face. He’s just restricted to not being able to train fully. He can do moderate, low-intensity exercise, which for a rugby league player is not that stimulating, but that’s where he’s at for now.”

When asked if he could play again in 2023, he said:

“It is quite possible that he will play again this year, but also we don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves. His health and his longevity as a human is more important than playing.”

Everyone at Serious About Rugby League wishes him well.
