Former Castleford Tigers forward joins new club

Despite calling time on his career at the end of the 2023 season, former Castleford Tigers man Junior Moors has announced that he will return to the field in 2024.

In November 2023 Moors confirmed it was time to hang up the boots thanking each of his former clubs including both Castleford Tigers and Featherstone Rovers, the two English sides where Moors saw out his impressive career.

Posting on social media, Moors stated: “The time has come. Officially signing out from the game of Rugby League, a game that’s taken my family and I on a ride I’ll forever be grateful for, I’ve met some absolute legends along the way and made some friendships that will last a lifetime.

“Thank you to @penrithpanthers @nrl_weststigers @storm @ctrlfc @fevroversrlfc for the opportunity to live out a dream.”

He concluded by saying: “As they say, As one door closes another door opens, excited to see what the future holds,” and what the future holds has now been confirmed.

Moors made 109 Super League appearances and played a total of 176 games during his time in England but he’ll now add to that career with games for his new club, Campbelltown City Kangaroos.

That team may sound familiar to some fans because it’s the club that Ava Seumanufagai took up a coaching role with after he left Leigh Leopards at the end of 2023.

Zero Tackle have reported Moors’ decision to come back out of retirement and it will reunite him with Seumanufagai, the pair having formerly played for Wests Tigers before.

Campbelltown play in Group 6 competition and are currently fourth in the league after three rounds but they’ll clearly be boosted by someone of Moors’ status.

Ex-Super League star discusses move into coaching

When Ava Seumanuagai confirmed he was moving into coaching he discussed the decision with The Daily Telegraph, explaining the motivation and what the future held for him.

“During the later part of my career I have become interested in coaching,” Seumanufagai said to the Daily Telegraph.

“I turned down a few other options because I see this as a good stepping stone, and I still get to play.

“Down the track I’d love to work my way towards the NRL, but I know it’s a hard gig and spots are limited.”

With former Castleford Tigers man Moors in tow as well, there’s no doubt he’ll have plenty of experience to bounce ideas off in his early days as a coach.
