Castleford recall dual-registered player for Salford test

Castleford Tigers welcome Salford Red Devils to the Jungle this Friday as they look to build on their win at Magic Weekend.

The Tigers win over local rivals Leeds Rhinos was only their third of the season, however they go into Friday’s game with a new sense of belief.

Last week, the noise coming out of the Castleford camp was about wiping the slate clean and starting the season from now. Their victory saw an improved performance across the park, especially from star players Gareth Widdop and Alex Mellor.

Can they build on this and make it two on the spin this week?

Andy Last has named his 21-man-squad for the clash, which sees four changes to the squad that took on Leeds. Will Tate and Jacob Hookem are named in the squad, as is Alex Sutcliffe who returns from his dual-registration commitment with Halifax Panthers. Aaron Willis is named for the first time this season. There is no Alex Mellor in the squad this week due to a failed HIA at Magic Weekend.

Salford also come into the clash at the Jungle off the back of success at Magic Weekend. The Red Devils took apart Hull KR in the first game of the weekend.

They played their usual brand of all-out-attack to perfection against the Robins, which has seen them jump up one place to fifth in the table.

The win at Magic Weekend was also their third in a row, and they will be wanting to turn that into a fourth win against the Tigers on Friday.

Paul Rowley has chosen his 20-man-squad for the match, which only sees one change as Ellis Longstaff drops out of the squad. This means Ryan Brierley, Brodie Croft, Mark Sneyd and Chris Atkin all look likely to feature in the spine. Ken Sio and Tim Lafai are also named in the team. Tyler Dupree is also included.
