Luke Gale breaks silence on shock Keighley exit

Luke Gale is headed back to Super League.

It was one of the biggest and most shocking transfer stories of the winter when he joined Keighley Cougars following the expiry of his contract at Hull FC after one season.

However, just a third into the season he has been brought in by Wakefield Trinity to try and turn around their season.

Trinity are yet to win a game in 2023 and have failed to score in five of 10 games whilst only scoring more than one try on two occasions and even one of them only saw them score twice.

Gale is tasked with changing that as he comes in with a clash against his former club Hull FC round the corner.

But it comes as he leaves the Cougars after a brief stint having been a marquee signing for the club.

Gale has now broken his silence on his exit in a statement on the Cougars’ website.

He said:

“I would like to thank Keighley Cougars and wish them all the best with the remainder of the season. I’ve enjoyed my time and Keighley and would like to pass on my thanks to Ryan and Kaue, the board of directors, the players, coaching staff and fans”
