Leeds Rhinos star says they will “miss” duo as they join Super League rivals

There’s been lots of ins and outs at Headingley going into 2023.

Yes the Rhinos have brought in the likes of Sam Lisone from the NRL, Justin Sangare from Toulouse Olympique, James McDonnell from Wigan Warriors, Luke Hooley from the Batley Bulldogs, Luis Roberts from Leigh Leopards, Toby Warren from York City Knights, Leon Ruan from Doncaster and Derrell Olpherts from the Castleford Tigers.

They are also still expected to sign Nene MacDonald from Leigh Leopards.

However, the likes of Jack Walker, Matt Prior and Bodene Thompson have all moved on as have Zak Hardaker as well as Liam Sutcliffe and Brad Dwyer to Hull FC.

Speaking to the club website, Cameron Smith opened up on the two’s exit to Hull FC.

Smith followed in the footsteps of Sutcliffe who had been at the club his entire career since debuting in 2013.

On the duo, Smith said: “We will miss them tremendously, they played such a big part in my time here and they are friends for life.

“They were an integral part of our team last year. Not only on the pitch coming up with huge plays but Hull FC have gained two awesome players and two awesome blokes.

“We will miss them a lot.”
