Wakefield Trinity’s Jacob Miller breaks silence on Castleford Tigers link

With May 1 been and gone, those stars out of contract at the end of this season continue to get linked to all and sundry.

One of those players is Wakefield Trinity star Jacob Miller, whose future has been up in the air ever since it was reported that the halfback is in his way to a Super League rival.

The Australian has been in the UK Super League since 2013, joining Hull FC and making 25 appearances in two seasons before leaving for Wakefield where he has stayed ever since.

In those seven years at Belle Vue, the blonde-haired playmaker has played over 180 games, scoring 60 tries, kicking 18 goals and nine drop goals.

And, Miller has revealed that he will probably retire in the UK.

“I’ve loved it in the UK, I’ve been here since 2013 and it’s a great place,” Miller told Serious About Rugby League.

“I’m so glad I’ve had the opportunity here and I think I will retire here.”

Of course, being out of contract often leads to rumour mongering, but for the 29-year-old, he is firmly focused on this year for Wakefield, but has revealed that his future will likely be sorted in the next month.

“I’ve given it a little bit of thought, but I’ve tried not to put it to the front of my mind and I’ve tried to just focus on the job on task which is getting the results for Wakefield.

“There’s always going to be a little bit of speculation around it (his future).

“There’s been a few links and what not but we will have to wait and see how the next month plays out.”

For Wakefield and Miller it will be a case of trying to get back on the horse against the Wigan Warriors this Sunday afternoon following an incredible 74-10 loss to the Salford Red Devils at the weekend.
