Melbourne Storm’s Brandon Smith under fire for controversial action against South Sydney Rabbitohs

Melbourne Storm’s Brandon Smith has come under fire for a controversial action following his side’s win over South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Smith was seen mocking Souths fullback Latrell Mitchell following Melbourne’s golden point win over Souths at the weekend.

Mitchell had been on target with a two-point field goal from beyond 40 metres as the clock wound down in normal time, before holding his ear to the crowd.

But, that meant nothing in the grand scheme of things as Ryan Papenhuyzen sent over a winning one-pointer.

The injured Smith was on the sidelines and appeared to mock Mitchell’s celebration with The Sydney Morning Herald reporting that the Rabbitohs were extremely unhappy at the reaction.

Mitchell and Melbourne have a chequered past with the former often coming into conflict with former Storm centre Will Chambers whilst Mitchell was at the Sydney Roosters.

Mitchell was also the one who slotted over the winning drop goal at AAMI Park while playing for the Roosters in 2019, with the superstar running towards the Melbourne bench in his wild celebration.
