Kristian Woolf provides injury update on Alex Walmsley and Sione Mata’utia as the St Helens boss hails his side’s performance

St Helens were rampant against Warrington Wolves at the Totally Wicked Stadium tonight, eventually running out 28-2 winners.

It meant five wins from their first five games for Saints and head coach Kristian Woolf could not have been happier and prouder of his side’s performance.

“It was a really good win, it was a tough game,” Woolf said.

“They came to play and had a good intensity about them earlier on that we had to weather that and go back out after them.”

Tommy Makinson scored two tries to go into third on the all-time St Helens top try-scorer list and Woolf was proud of the winger’s performance.

“I think he’s been great all year; he’s had a really good attitude and he’s really positive about everything.

“He’s got a great energy about him and we need to keep that up.”

There were some concerns for Saints tonight, though, as Sione Mata’utia and Alex Walmsley went off with hamstring injuries, but Woolf explained he would have to check on both.

“I’m really not sure, they are both hamstring issues and they both obviously felt something there.

“We need to look after them during the week – they might be out for a week or two but we will have to see.”
