Featherstone Rovers make statement of intent with three major signings

Featherstone Rovers have made three new signings that will make the rest of the Championship sit up and take note.

First, is former Melbourne Storm halfback Ryley Jacks, with Adam Cuthbertson joining from Leeds Rhinos.

The son of Jamie Mathiou, Ben, has also made the move to the Millennium Stadium.

And, new head coach Brian McDermott couldn’t hide his delight at securing the trio’s signatures: “Ryley is a great addition to the squad – a leading half-back,” McDermott said at the press conference to launch the 2022 season.

“I played against Ben’s dad [Jamie – ex-Leeds prop], he comes with great raps, and looking at the footage there he’s going to blend into the squad.

“What it does is make it really uncomfortable for everybody in the squad about getting a shirt – this isn’t a squad with obvious choices.”
