Mose Masoe handed staggering six-figure cheque

Mose Masoe has become one of the most inspirational rugby league players to ever walk the field in recent seasons.

Masoe arrived in Super League in 2014 helping new club St Helens to a first Super League title in eight years when they defeated Wigan at Old Trafford. After two years with the Saints and after an injury 2016 season with St George Illawarra Dragons in the NRL in which he didn’t play once, he joined Hull KR in  2017 but four years later he returns to Australia in a very different place in his life.

After endearing himself to the Hull KR fans helping them return to Super League and re-establish themselves as a top tier side, Masoe suffered a career ending injury in a pre-season friendly as the Robins prepared for the 2020 campaign.

There was a fear that he may never walk again but somehow, despite the pandemic, he’s managed to defy the odds and live a mostly normal life. After being supported by Hull KR since his injury and the wider rugby league community in the UK over the last two years, he’s now returned home and despite the tragic way his time as a player ended, he still remains happy.

And, he has now been the recipient of a bookmakers’ generosity with Sportsbet handing over a $265,000 cheque to Masoe and his family from its sponsorship of NRL try-scoring celebrations this year.

The photo of Masoe receiving the cheque can be seen via a Daily Telegraph article found here.
