Star loses control and throws punches in ill-tempered affair

New Zealand Warriors were able to overcome Cronulla Sharks 18-16, but they had to do without big forward Kane Evans for 20 minutes of the game.

The rampaging prop was sinbinned twice, first in the 35th minute and then again in the 64th. The Warriors even had a third man sinbinned in the 80th minute when Chanel Harris-Tevita was given his marching orders.

But, Evans’ first indiscretion saw him punch NRL badboy Will Chambers twice in the face after the two had a coming together on the floor.

Something was allegedly said to Evans hence the reaction, but the latter’s actions meant that referee Matt Cecchin had no choice but to send him for a ten-minute cooldown.

Evans’ second indiscretion for a dangerous tackle threatened to hand the Sharks a route back into the game, but the Warriors stood firm to keep their slim hopes of making the top eight alive.
