Zane Tetevano escapes ban for late hit – here’s why

Zane Tetevano will not be banned for Leeds Rhinos’ trip to Wigan Warriors on Wednesday night, despite being cited for a late shot in Leeds’ victory over Huddersfield last Thursday.

The Rhinos’ head coach Richard Agar believed the powerhouse loose-forward would incur a ban following the four-game suspension Tetevano was slapped with earlier in the season.

However, fortunately for Leeds, Tetevano and Agar, no ban has been forthcoming with the disciplinary panel deciding not to charge him.

According to the panel, Tetevano was “in the motion of making a tackle”.

That is good news for Agar, with the likes of Liam Sutcliffe, Alex Mellor and Mikolaj Oledzki ruled out until the end of the season, though the Leeds boss will welcome back Rhyse Martin, Matt Prior, Cameron Smith and Jack Broadbent for his squad for the trip to Wigan in midweek.
