Zak Hardaker reveals Wigan Warriors’ response to his drink driving arrest

Zak Hardaker had a brilliant stint at Wigan Warriors which came to an end mid way through 2022.

Hardaker joined Wigan after he was banned for testing positive for a banned substance at Castleford Tigers in 2017.

As his ban neared its conclusion, Hardaker was arrested for drink driving.

Speaking on the Fully Game YouTube channel, Hardaker expressed his surprise at Wigan’s response to the situation:

“I genuinely thought they’d release me because I’d just come back from drugs and then drink driving.

“Kris Radlinski is a director and I think he just sees the nice person in me and just wants to help. He was like ‘come over to Wigan now’, so the day I got home from the cells it was like two days till I moved there. I took two bags and lived there with one of the lads for two and a half months before Christmas.

“I came home for a week, didn’t drink because I was scared to death that one drink would lead to something else and then in January I moved over renting.

“I think they saw the vulnerability and wanted to help me. They saw what being in this environment, Pontefract, and the people that are here get stuck into stuff so they wanted me to relocate and get me away from here.

“I was good over there I’ll be honest. I did three and that’s when I moved back over here to Leeds.”
