Tonight Leigh Leopards take on star player Zak Hardaker’s former club in the shape of the Wigan Warriors.
Hardaker though has been very impressed by his side’s form to start the season.
“We’ve started like a house on fire and I think the boys are just really eager to see what we’ve done right from previous weeks and try and fit it for Thursday’s game because it’s a massive game,” he said on Leigh’s YouTube channel.
“The boys are willing to work really hard, we’ve been working hard since pre-season, so far so good. We’re happy with where we’re at and it’s all on Thursday.”
Hardaker also made a bold prediction about Leigh’s prospects this year:
“I got asked about this before the season but I never thought of us as being bottom two anyway. I said personally that we were going to be top six.
“It was just people from the outside looking in thinking we might be there or thereabouts but the confidence in the group and the team, from the coaches to the bottom.
“We were all looking forward to this year and what we can produce when we all come through we can do something good.”
Tonight’s Battle of the Borough is at Leigh Sports Village and live on Sky Sports from 19:30.
