Zak Hardaker appealed his one match ban for a dangerous through against York in the Challenge Cup.
Hardaker was yellow carded after a tackle on AJ Towse in the Challenge Cup clash as Leigh were reduced to 11 men for 10 minutes in the clash.
The tackle was seen as a Grade C dangerous throw by the Match Review Panel.
Hardaker appealed the subsequent one match ban at tonight’s tribunal after teammate Kai O’Donnell had been given a huge six game suspension for a similar tackle in the same game also seen as a dangerous throw but a Grade F one.
After he was banned for six games, Hardaker’s appeal was heard.
The appeal though was unsuccessful.
The RFL made the following statement:
“Zak Hardaker (Leigh Leopards) has been suspended for one game after being found guilty of a Grade C Dangerous Throw by an Independent Tribunal. Hardaker pleaded guilty but challenged the grading however the grading was found to be correct. Club lose £500 bond.”
The Leopards will face Catalans Dragons this weekend with four players suspended.
Tom Nisbet and Ava Seumanufagai were both banned from the same game.
