Your club’s player with a point to prove in 2023: Castleford Tigers

The best thing about sport is that it is an ongoing story. Its stars are the characters, the stadiums are the majestic settings that home fairytales and each season acts as a chapter in the most compelling on running drama series man has ever penned.

Every year it seems there are a million stories to light up Super League often driven by the stars of the game.

Whether it is a star player shining as bright as can be, a youngster making a name for himself, a new signing changing the complexion of the league or someone written off in the past who has a point to prove in the new season.

That’s what we’re considering today, those players with a point to prove in 2023 and we’re looking at the Castleford Tigers.

Many in the Tigers squad will have a point to prove in 2023. Those who have been there over the last two seasons will be frustrated that they missed out on the play-offs due to a final day defeat in both 2021 and 2022.

Meanwhile, new signings always have a point to prove.

However, the player who stands out is Jake Mamo. Mamo was sensational in his final season for Warrington Wolves so much so it is widely believed they regretted allowing him to leave. But injuries and other struggles made 2022 not quite the season Mamo will have envisgaed.

In 2023, he has a second chance to be the star we all know he can be and be the centre piece of an exciting Castleford Tigers attack.
