Super League is about to head into its 28th season.
Of the previous 27, St Helens have won 10 titles, Leeds Rhinos have claimed eight meaning that between them they have two third of the Super League titles between them.
Wigan Warriors have won five titles and Bradford Bulls have won the other four. Four other clubs have won the League Leaders’ Shield whilst five have contested but lost Grand Finals.
Every Super League club has made a splash at one stage or another at the right end of the table.
So, that’s why we’re considering every Super League club’s super season in the top flight, that is to say, their best every Super League campaign.
Today is the turn of the Huddersfield Giants. But what is their best ever campaign as they head into 2023 hoping that this year proves to be their best ever season?
Though their impressive campaign last year was certainly in the running as was their 2009 campaign where they similarly finished third and made it to a Challenge Cup Final they perhaps should have won, there is a clear answer.
The Giants finished top of the pile after a brilliant season in 2013 in Paul Anderson’s first season in charge.
They underlined their brilliance too with one of the biggest wins in play-off history against Hull FC but were unable to make it to the Grand Final unfortunately.
Nonetheless, their consistency starting with a resounding win over St Helens and former Giants boss Nathan Brown ensures that this is the Giants’ best ever season.
However, there is a feeling that 2023 could top it.
