Young star returns for Huddersfield Giants as Castleford Tigers look to debut two new signings

Castleford Tigers face Huddersfield Giants on Friday night at the Jungle in a game that is one of the most important in the club’s recent history, with a loss of 12 or more points dropping them to the foot of the table and handing relegation rivals Wakefield Trinity a chance to go two points clear.

Unfortunately for Andy Last’s men they face an in form Huddersfield who have won three games on the spin for the first time all season and have an outside chance at the playoffs.

By contrast the Tigers have lost their last four, shipping 30 points or more in the last three games, and so it could be a difficult evening at Wheldon Road for them.

Andy Last called on senior players to step up last week and he’s named a very senior squad with some younger players missing out and key senior figure Gareth Widdop returning.

There could also be debuts for Charbel Tasipale and Liam Horne, both signed last week alongside Billy Tsikrikas who debuted last week against Hull KR along with Alex Foster who made his second debut at the club.

As for the Giants they have brought back in one of their young stars with Will Pryce named again although he hasn’t featured in a matchday squad since Huddersfield’s hammering at the hands of Leeds a few weeks back.

Pryce joins the squad alongside Jack Ashworth as well whilst skipper Luke Yates and veteran winger Jermaine McGillvary both drop out.

Ian Watson had confirmed that the winger had picked up a hamstring issue whilst Yates had suffered an issue with his ankle in which he claimed it had become very ‘swollen’.
