Young Hull FC full-back reveals what the likes of Jamie Shaul and Danny Houghton have taught him

Hull FC had their first game of the pre-season yesterday as they ran out narrow victors over Sheffield Eagles in a 22-20 win.
The game was flipped on it’s head at half-time when Sheffield threw their youth on and unfortunately couldn’t add to their 20-12 leas, instead FC scored 10 unanswered to secure the win.
Tony Smith, in his first game in charge as Hull FC boss, also relied on youth and one of those players has spoke with the club site to give insight into the game.
Davy Litten is a 19-year-old full-back and the Hull native featured prominently during the second-half.
“The experience that some of those blokes have, you can’t even really say much about it. You might do a little thing wrong, like that head high tackle but you look up and you get Danny Houghton telling you “head up, next job”.
“It helps loads, Shaully spoke to me the other day saying “just hide behind the ruck and wait for breaks to happen” and I was on the end of most of them.”
Having the likes of Jamie Shaul, another Hull-born full-back, and Danny Houghton who is renowned as one of the league’s toughest men must help the likes of Litten immensely.
Smith played four players who are currently splitting their playing duties with time at Hull FC Sport College whilst another three graduates also featured, highlighting the youth in the team.
“The Super League experience at the back end of last year has helped me loads. I feel good and compared to last year I feel really good. I want to be playing Super League this year, I took the opportunity today but that’s my baseline now and I need to be better than that from now on.”
