“You have always played your heart out” – How social media reacted to Huddersfield’s win against Leigh and the Centurions’ relegation

Yesterday, Leigh’s time in the Betfred Super League came to an end with a 42-24 defeat to Huddersfield in the final game of the regular season. Ultimately, the Centurions have won just two games all season and were odds on for the drop at the start of the year so their demise won’t surprise many but it is still disappointing to see. That’s my take anyway but what was yours? How did social media react to yesterday’s game and Leigh’s relegation?

Despite the defeat, the Centurions ended the season with a better points per game record than rivals Wigan leaving some quite amused.

Some even claimed that they’d subsequently won the battle of the Borough despite their relegation.

A more realistic fan turned his attentions to next season and looked forward to seeing his team fight for promotion once again.

Other fans were simply happy to see the difficult campaign come to a close.

Those on the outside of club voiced their sympathy for the Leigh fans.

On a similar note, others commended their effort throughout what has been a tough season for the club.

On a similar note, one Leigh fan also thanked his team for their efforts but felt like the quality was at times lacking.

Others meanwhile remained optimistic about the future.

Whilst some comically looked towards Derek Beaumont’s supposed lawsuit against Toulouse should the French side achieve promotion.

On the other side of things, Huddersfield fans were pleased with the win and were already looking ahead to 2022.
