York Knights have announced their latest retention ahead of their maiden Super League campaign, with a former St Helens man putting penning a new deal for 2026.
It has been a busy few weeks for the club, who have confirmed a plethora of players from their successful Championship will be staying on to represent them in the top flight.
Just this week, the Knights have announced new deals for winger Scott Galeano, full-back Toa Mata’afa and prop Kieran Hudson, whilst confirming the signings of John Sagaga from Penrith Panthers, Queensland Cup prop Ryan Jackson and the loan signing of Hull FC’s Denive Balmforth.
The latest player to join the Super League squad for next year will be young hooker Taylor Pemberton, who has comitted to the club for another 12 months.
A St Helens academy graduate, Pemberton made his debut at the Red Vee in 2022, and made two appearances that year under Kristian Woolf.
He failed to make a senior appearance the following year, and spent the majority of 2023 on loan at York.
The 22-year-old impressed during his time at the club, and earned a permanent deal for the following season.
In total, Pemberton has made 25 appearances for the Knights, scoring twice and kicking 20 goals.

Commenting on his new deal, Pemberton said he can’t wait to have another strong season with the North Yorkshire outfit.
He said: “I’m grateful for the opportunity with this special club in its next chapter.
“I can’t wait for another year with this group.“
Head coach Mark Applegarth, who has coached Pemberton during his time in the England academy, added: “I’m delighted Taylor’s with us still. Obviously he was a bit unlucky with his injury last year.
“I really love how his game is developing. I challenged him on a few things this year, mainly on his defence, which he’s improved.
“He’s got a really good running game and his understanding working with Macca [Paul McShane] of the broader picture is coming on leaps and bounds. I’m delighted he’s with us still.”
