York Knights have confirmed that they have been successfully taken over by a local ownership group, subject to RFL approval.
The Knights are currently owned by Australian Clint Goodchild, but he will now hand over the reins to a group headed by local businessman David Dickson and his family.
Dickson is the current Director of ‘Foss Properties Limited’, per Companies House, and brings decades of experience to the club.
Current Director Richard Larking will remain on the board, whilst general manager Neil Gulliver will make the step up to the role of CEO, formally held by Goodchild.
The Knights have been rumoured to have a change on investors for months, and it a transfer of ownership has now been confirmed with immediate effect.
Goodchild leaves the club after a successful re-brand, as well as guiding the club to Super League promotion, and 1895 Cup trophy and the Championship League Leaders’ Shield.
In the Women’s game, York Valkyrie secured back-to-back WSL titles during his reign.
Over the coming weeks, the club will outline their strategic plans and vision as the 2026 season reaches its climax and preparations for 2027 begin. Daily operations, player welfare, and match day preparations across both the Knights and the Valkyrie remain entirely unaffected.

Commenting on his legacy at the Knights, Goodchild said: “I brought ambition. I leave with enough friendships and memories to last a lifetime.
“On arrival, I knew York was a proud rugby league city, but I didn’t know then how much this place, this club and its people would come to mean to me.
“To the players who sacrifice their bodies. The coaches who demand more. The staff who care far beyond their job descriptions. The volunteers who give their time. The sponsors and partners who believe. And the supporters who keep turning up. Thank you for believing. Together we made history.
