With Super League Round 21 now complete, there will be a few players sweating the disciplinary panel this week after incidents in their respective games.
With only one sin-bin this weekend for dangerous contact, there aren’t many notable incidents that could be worthy of a charge, but York Knights playmaker Ata Hingano was very lucky to escape a red card in the win over St Helens.
The half-back, who featured at loose forward on Saturday, was shown a yellow card for a shoulder to the head of Jake Davies, with many believing he should have been shown his marching orders.
He is at the biggest risk of a ban as it stands, and whilst Alex Mellor of Castleford and Toby King of Warrington were also shown yellows, they were for professional fouls, which don’t usually lead to the Match Review Panel getting involved.
Other players at risk after Tigers back rower Jordan Lane, who was penalised for a high shot on Joe Philbin, whilst opposite number Adam Holroyd was penalised for a late hit on Daejarn Asi.
Saints’ Shane Wright hit a York Knights kicker late and was penalised as a result, whilst Knights veteran Paul McShane was also punished for a high shot on Jack Welsby after the tackle had been completed.
With no real incidents of significant note in any of the other five games, the MRP are set to be in for a quiet week, though that could very much change if they look back at the footage to see any potential infringements.
