Yesterday, at St Helens’ Totally Wicked Stadium a World Record was set.

This was to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease, an illness Super League and Leeds Rhinos legend Rob Burrow valiantly fights day to day but he isn’t the only one.

In May 2022 Ian was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease at the age of just 44. Anybody who has had any experience of this condition will know how horrific the disease is.

There is no test to diagnose MND (for Ian there was 18 months of uncertainty, before the diagnosis was confirmed).

There is also no current cure for the condition.

The Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) have been a holding hand to Ian and the family since diagnosis. They do amazing work and fund everything from national research trials to local grants for life adaptations.

Thus, his friends jumped at the chance to support Ian in his quest to raise funds and awareness for the MNDA, and to set a World Record in the process.

The previous World Record for longest 24-hour journey in an electric golf cart is 193.12 km (120 mi) and was set in Florida, United States, on 15 January 2022.

Yesterday an attempt was made to break this by doing laps of the concourse of the Totally Wicked Stadium, the home of the Saints.

Last night they smashed the record by travelling over 220 miles in 24 hours and raising a huge £15,000 for MND.
