World Cup star and ex-Castleford Tigers man squad numbers confirmed for 2023

Newcastle Thunder head coach Chris Thorman has today confirmed his squad numbers for the long-awaited return of the Betfred Championship season.

With an influx of players joining the squad and a number leaving, it comes as no surprise that only three players from the 2022 squad have retained their squad numbers for the upcoming season.

Mitch Clark wearing 10, former Castleford Tigers star Alex Foster wearing 11 and Ted Chapelhow wearing 15, all keep their squad numbers from the previous season.

Speedster Jack Johnson takes over number one, with Alex Donaghy securing the number six jersey, having worn 22 last year

Jay Chapelhow moves to number eight and Brad Gallagher secures number 12 for this season.

Unlucky for some Connor Bailey will wear number 13 and former academy player Nathan Clemmitt moves to 19.

Gideon Boafo will take over the 20 jersey, having worn five last year and academy graduate Jake Anderson wears 22.

New signings Alex Young and Marcus Walker take over the two and three shirts respectively, with Alex Clegg returning to the Thunder scene to wear number five.

Joining from Whitehaven RLFC, Nikau Williams takes on the seven jersey and Welsh international Curtis Davies wears nine.

Player-coach Rhys Clarke returns to Thunder to wear 16 and Greek international Robert Tuliatu will take over number 17 with Jake Lightowler wearing 18.

The three university signings in Evan Lawther, Max Flanagan and Mac Walsh all wear 21, 25, and 26 respectively, with loanees Connor Moore and Daniel Okoro completing the squad wearing 23 and 24.
