Woolf: Saints must react better

St Helens Head Coach Kristian Woolf has said his side needed to react better to injuries following their 19-0 defeat against Warrington Wolves.

They lost thanks to tries from Daryl Clark, Tom Lineham and Josh Charnley. Stefan Ratchford also added two penalties and Blake Austin scored a drop goal.

Saints were dealt a blow early on, as Alex Walmsley pulled out after the warmup with a calf injury. Woolf later confirmed he would go for a scan to determine the severity of the injury.

Then in the second half, Saints also lost Mark Percival, which Woolf confirmed was a shoulder/collarbone injury. He will have it scanned in the week.

When asked about how the injury to Walmsley affected the team at the start, he said: “It was certainly a challenge. He’s a good player and a real leader in  our group.

“Its just something we have to get over quickly and handle a little bit better than we showed tonight. The fact is, you lose players, and good players in our sport. We’ve just got to be better at getting on with things.”

Saints now have a 10-day turnaround before they face Hull FC next Sunday.
