Woolf rues late lapse

St Helens Head Coach Kristian Woolf rued his side’s lapse in concentration, as they let a 30-12 lead slip against Catalans Dragons.

The defeat also saw the race for the League Leaders Shield ended with that James Maloney drop-goal in Golden Point.

Woolf said he was happy with the performance until the final 10 minutes.

He said: “It’s really disappointing. I thought for 60-70 minutes we played as well as we have, and that is with or without the ball and had the game well in control.

“Unfortunately, we dropped our intensity, we stopped playing. When you do that, and leave it to chance, you can have your pants pulled down, and that is what happened.

“I don’t think it was a game management thing by young halves. I think it is outstanding players that need to step up and nail those last 10 minutes, and unfortunately we didn’t.”
