St Helens Head Coach Kristian Woolf praised his side’s defence following their 48-0 win over Leeds Rhinos at Headingley.
The result also saw the Saints become the first team in Super League history to blank Leeds at Headingley as Kristian Woolf’s side climbed up to second place.
Reflecting on the game, Woolf said. “I really enjoyed tonight. The lads played really well and were fully deserving of the win.
“We did not allow them any real opportunity to score. They did come close a couple of times but our defence tonight was just fantastic.
“I think we have been solid since returning from lockdown. Conceding just six points over two games takes a lot of effort but the lads came through.
“Our attitude is excellent as well. We managed to weather the storm several times. Keeping our try line intact whenever Leeds looked dangerous before scoring a couple of breakaways.
“We will not get carried away just yet. Straight back to business in training this week and hopefully, we can continue our form.”
Though Woolf credited the full team, certain players more than others stood out for the Saints boss.
He added. “It was great to see Regan Grace score a hat-trick of tries tonight.
“He has always been an exciting player and the way he scored his tries showed that.
“Furthermore, it is great to see James Graham back at the club and to see him score a try for good measure.
“He really is a tough player. He goes through a lot of hard work. You can see and hear his enthusiasm which generates excitement through the rest of the team and thankfully, it paid off tonight.”
