Woolf impressed with Saints response

St Helens Head Coach Kristian Woolf was pleased with the response of his side after their 26-2 win over Wigan Warriors at the DW Stadium.

Saints came into the game off the back of a 20-10 defeat by Castleford Tigers last week, and Woolf was looking for a response against their bitter rivals.

They managed to keep their opponents try-less- the first time Wigan have failed to score a try for the first time at the DW Stadium.

He said: “It was exactly the response we wanted. We were not happy with last week, we didn’t play to our standards, our discipline was poor and we were not great with or without the ball.

“I was really happy with the way we turned up tonight. Straight from the kick off, we started with a great intensity, had good discipline about us, and we really went after the game.

“I was very happy with what we did on both sides of the ball.”
