Woolf hints at further signings

St Helens Head Coach Kristian Woolf has hinted at further signings for the club over the next couple of weeks.

Saints confirmed the signing of former Salford hooker Joey Lussick earlier today, to go alongside their other signings of Will Hopoate and Curtis Sironen.

Woolf said the club could look forward to another “one or two” signings that would be confirmed in the coming weeks.

He said: “We will definitely have one or two more. We’ve had to look differently because we have had salary cap constraints, and others left because of what we had available in salary cap. They deserved more and were able to find more elsewhere. That’s the way the salary cap works.

“It’s a real balancing act in terms of how they fit into the salary cap and we make sure the recruitment decisions we make are actually improving the squad.

“We have also retained 14,15 or even more key players from our top squad. We’ve been pretty active over the last 12-18 months and a big part of our thinking is making sure we improve the squad within the salary cap.

“We have worked hard in that area, and I think people will be excited by what they have already seen. There will be one or two more, and we will get to them over the coming weeks.”
