James Bentley has been given a one-match ban by the disciplinary match review panel following an incident during St Helens’ 26-2 win over Wigan in an ill-tempered affair.

Bentley’s indiscretion came in the 16th minute when he was alleged to have kicked out at a Wigan player, making “light contact”.

But, head coach Kristian Woolf will not be appealing the decision.

“We’re not going to be appealing it because there’s not really any precedents we can compare it to,” Woolf said.

“There’s certainly an element of wrongdoing in there and James agreed with that himself.

“When we looked at it, however, we didn’t think it deserved a week, but we didn’t think there was something there to appeal.”

Bentley will now miss out St Helens’ fixture against Leigh as the Centurions aim for back-to-back wins for the first time in Super League this season following a 32-22 victory over Salford Red Devils last time out.
