Woolf gives Saints injury update

St Helens Head Coach Kristian Woolf has confirmed he should have a fully fit squad to choose from ahead of their season opener against Salford Red Devils on Friday.

Lachlan Coote, Regan Grace, Matty Lees and Morgan Knowles all missed Saints’ friendly defeat against Leigh Centurions with niggles. James Roby and Agnatius Paasi also both failed to finish the game. Roby failed a HIA, and Paasi picked up an ankle strain.

But after a week off, Woolf confirmed all should be fit for the game.

He said: “We are expecting everyone to be available this week. There are a few we need to check today and tomorrow, similar to Salford, but they should be fine.

“We trained today and will train tomorrow, and we will keep an eye on them.

“If people are suffering with any niggles or anything like that, then we will not risk them. It isn’t smart to put a player out that has a niggle in round one, because then they can end up carrying it for the whole season.

“We will be cautious, but at the same time, we expect everyone to be fit.”
