Hull KR boss Willie Peters has offered his assessment after the Robins earned their eighth straight derby win over Hull FC.
Peters’ Robins earned a 26-12 victory, but the game could have gone either way with the scores level at 12-12 with an hour gone.
However, a strong tackle from Jez Litten forced an error from Lewis Martin close to his own line, which led to an easy try from Jai Whitbread.
Litten was again influential in the final try, with his kick being perfect for Tyrone May to score the match-winner. Rhyse Martin, who went five from five with the boot, added a final penalty goal to seal the win.
“We knew in terms of personnel, and what I mean by that is the middle that we lacked depth, we had to move people around like Karl Lawton. He was our first sub to come on and play prop, which is not his number one spot.
“I thought he did a tremendous job. I thought Jai Whitbread was absolutely outstanding. The middles that we had all did their job, and when it got to 12 all, I thought they had the momentum.
“Their crowd were loud, and they certainly had momentum, and then we found a way, and that’s the part that, I just told the players, we need to take that going into next week because there’s some teams there that would probably have lost that game.”

Eyebrows were raised 90 minutes before kick-off, when Ryan Hampshire was named at full-back and Jack Broadbent was shifted to the wing.
The move came after Joe Burgess’ injury a fortnight ago. Noah Booth featured in the defeat to Leeds last week, but he could only manage an unused substitute role
“I just felt we needed to get a little bit, again, a shift in energy. Rocky [Hampshire]’s been very good at training. I think Broady [Broadbent] has had a good stint at full-back, and it’s a tough position to play every week.
“He runs a lot of metres, and that’s around the field, that’s not going forward. Teams are picking him out and going the other way, it’s a tough position to play.
“I just felt we needed something different, but yes, I thought Rocky went okay.”
