Willie Peters tips Hull KR star to play for England as he reveals he was keeping an eye on the Hull KR job before it became open

Willie Peters is in the Hull KR hot seat after taking over from now Hull FC boss Tony Smith after Leeds Rhinos legend Danny McGuire filled the gap on an interim basis.

Peters seems to be loving life at Craven Park already and speaking at a fan event last night spoke about how impressed he has been by some of his squad.

One man who seems to have impressed the new boss a fair bit if Jez Litten.

Peters tipped him to play for England in the near future: “Then there’s players like Jez Litten who I think if he keeps going the way he is he’ll be an England international if he makes the right sacrifices.”

Peters also revealed that he had an eye on Hull KR long before the opportunity to coach them came around: “Before the opportunity came along, I’d marked Hull KR a few years ago as one on a journey and creating something special after finishing in the top six in 2021. They had top players and was only 80 minutes away from the Challenge Cup Final. Now, we’re working on how to get past those barriers and work harder and smarter to reach our goals. I said to my wife early in my career that I wanted to be a Super League coach and it’s come full circle which is great.”
