A new era is approaching at Craven Park.

The Robins are heading into their first full season after Tony Smith turned things around and guided them to the semi-finals in 2021.

Smith is now at rivals Hull FC but his replacement at Hull KR Willie Peters is now in the UK and making preparations for getting the Robins back into the play-offs and has spoken to KR TV about what he wants from Hull KR in 2023 starting with pre-season.

Speaking on KR’s network, he said: “I’m a big believer that pre-season defines who you are in the season.

“We need to come back ready to go and hit the ground running.”

He also spoke about the character of the side last year as they battled through injuries. He wants this to be the bedrock of his team: “There were a lot of adversity and challenges for the team and Danny at the time did well and what I love about this team is they never gave up.

“We going to pride ourselves on a world class effort every week and we compete to win in everything we do.

“That means at training we’re competing. In games, there’s no excuses for not competing with this team.

“What the fans want, I’ve spoken to the fans a lot this week, they just want a football team they can be proud of, that doesn’t give up.

“I know if we do that, we’ll be in a good place.”
