Williams will start against Leeds, Price confirms

Warrington Wolves Head Coach Steve Price has confirmed new halfback George Williams will start Sunday’s Super League clash against Leeds Rhinos.

Williams joined the club earlier this month, but was delayed in linking up with the squad, as their training camp was shut down following a COVID outbreak.

He missed out on making his debut against his old club Wigan Warriors, as he still “had a few boxes to tick” before playing.

Now Price has confirmed his new addition will make his debut on Sunday.

He said: “George Williams will make his debut tomorrow. It’s exciting for him and exciting for the club. He’s in the starting 13, and he is excited for the challenge.

“He’s not played for a while, so there is not a lot of expectation on our end. It’s more about getting out there and defending well, kicking strong and doing the things he does well. We just want him to enjoy himself too.

“He’s only had a couple of training sessions with the team. But he gives those around him confidence and he’s in really good condition.”
