Will Pryce has seen his stay in the NRL cut short with the Englishman released by Newcastle Knights who have confirmed he has signed a “multi-year contract” in Super League.
Pryce made the move to head to the NRL at the end of the 2023 season, swapping Huddersfield Giants for Newcastle Knights but he found opportunities hard to come by in the NRL side’s irst team.
When he did earn that chance, he scored on debut but ultimately could not maintain the starting berth and it has now been confirmed that the Knights have released him from his contract early.
Pryce’s contract was due up at the end of the 2025 season and recently Serious About Rugby League reported that Hull FC had made a huge play to bring the youngster back to Super League.
It would seem that might be even earlier than anticipated given the Knights decision to release Will Pryce, something the club confirmed was on account of ‘compassionate grounds’.
Will Pryce released by Newcastle Knights after landing “multi-year” Super League deal
A statement from the Knights read: “The nib Newcastle Knights have agreed to a request from Will Pryce, granting an immediate release on compassionate grounds, to allow him to return home to England for personal and professional reasons.
“Pryce has secured a multi-year contract in the Super League and the Knights did not want to stand in the way of this opportunity to return home to his family.
“The Newcastle Knights would like to thank Will for all his contributions over the past couple of seasons and both parties have agreed to ensuring all details remain private and confidential.”
Soo far in 2025, Pryce has spent his time representing the Knights’ reserve team in the New South Wales Cup, where he played much of his 2024 campaign.
Still just 22, he will add quality and potential to the Super League team he joins on a “multi-year contract”, believed to be Hull FC.
With Jordan Abdull released before a ball was kicked this season, Pryce could slot straight in alongside captain Aidan Sezer, however, Cade Cust has deputised well at the position so far.
