Rivals Round saw a number of somewhat grotesque injuries perhaps owing to the ferocity of the games which lived up to their billing as rivals clashing.
Adam Milner cut open his knee and shared a gruesome picture of the wound on Instagram after the game but has still been named in Castleford’s squad to take on Leeds on Easter Monday.
Former Cas man Mike McMeeken meanwhile dislocated a bone in his wrist for Catalans against Toulouse in the French derby and will be out for four weeks.
Meanwhile, in the Hull derby on Good Friday, Will Maher lost a tooth leaving behind a hole in his gum and a cut on the inside of his lip and shared two images of the injury on Instagram with the comical caption: “One for the tooth fairy.”
It’s another reminder of how nasty and physical the Hull derby is as two massive inner city rivals collide.
Despite losing a tooth, Maher will have been smiling as his Robins side won 16-4 against their rivals Hull FC with Lachlan Coote shining.
Maher is still set to figure in Hull KR’s next game as they take on Toulouse in Tony Smith’s 500th game tomorrow. Having been central to the Smith’s pack in recent weeks, Maher will be key if the Robins are going to win and potentially leapfrog Hull FC into fifth.
