Wilkin suspended for swearing at official

Toronto back-rower Jon Wilkin has been issued with a one-match penalty notice for swearing at a match official during Sunday’s game against Rochdale.

The former St Helens star will subsequently be suspended for the Wolfpack’s visit to Leigh Centurions a week on Sunday.

Wilkin has played in Toronto’s first two games and will be a big miss for Brian McDermott’s side in a potentially difficult trip to one of their promotion rivals.

Leigh winger Jonny Pownall will also be banned for the clash at the Leigh Sports Village after receiving a one-match penalty notice for questioning the integrity of the match official during Sunday’s defeat to Halifax.

Pownall played 32 times for the Wolfpack, scoring 31 tries in a two-year spell, but he will now miss next week’s match against his former club.
