Wigan Warriors player makes short loan switch

Wigan Warriors have announced that Ramon Silva will spend the first month of the 2023 season on loan at London Broncos.

The 21-year-old Silva joined the Cherry and Whites from London in 2021 and has mainly featured in the side’s reserves system, whilst also being utilised elsewhere on loan.

With the Championship kicking off this weekend the Broncos have swooped in to recruit their former star on a one-month long loan, which will actually see him available for this opening game.

London host Batley on Sunday but Silva could also feature against Whitehaven, Halifax and Sheffield as well.

John Duffy, who led the reserves and youth in a pre-season fixture, spoke to the club site about the move and the prospect for Silva to get some gametime.

“It’s a great opportunity to continue his development in a good environment.  It’s also good for Ramon to be around his family back in London for a few weeks.”

Silva added: “I’m grateful for this opportunity and look forward to linking back up with the Broncos for the start of the 2023 season.

“Hopefully I can get some good minutes under my belt and help the club make a positive start to the year.”

The prop will bolster a Broncos squad that has also just recruited Papua New Guinea star Emmanuel Waine.

London also issued a statement detailing Silva’s previous history with the club.

“The Brazilian-born forward started his career aged 15 with Elmbridge Eagles before spending three seasons in the Broncos’ Academy where he played alongside Wigan teammate and England international Kai Pearce-Paul.”

Head of Performance, Mike Eccles, added: “I’m delighted to bring Razor home, even if it’s only for one month initially. He’s one of us in my eyes and knows most of our players and staff already which is a big advantage.
